WHAT THE FUCK IS HITCH HIKING ANYWAY?

This is an alternative way for us people in the lower class/poor people who can’t afford the fare expenses to travel our “OWN” land, to witness the beautiful places that we only see on books, magazines etc. this is a d.i.y thing, a counterculture, traveling without even a single peso or spending much.

 

But before doing this, you should remember that you are doing this not because more punx are into it, this is not a punk fashion, you are doing this so that you can explore the wonders of the Philippines, to see beautiful places like the mountains, beaches, falls [Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao] etc. that mostly rich people can only afford to travel. I remember when we are talking about traveling to Cebu, Davao, Palawan etc. some people heard us says, hey man! You are fucking rich! Haha! Do we poor people don’t have the right?

 

Through hitch hiking we can explore the beauty of the world, in every corner or everywhere, we can do that with out spending much, meet new people from punk, hardcore or metal or whatever kind of individual, witness the underground scene from different provinces, different cultures, advance in your political views and way to think about life. WELCOME TO SQUAT THE WORLD!!!

 

 

IMPORTANCE IN HITCH HIKING [101]:

*Learn how to speak the sweetest words, just like courting the driver

*Be cool and calm to convince the driver

*Always at ease

*Be friendly and tell some story to the driver or any people you met on the road

*Bring map

*Bring jacket/sweatshirt for cold protection at night

*Bring ID or any identification

*Don’t bring drugs and alcohol it’s too dangerous

*Don’t be scared to any police, military or any government officials, they can gave you food

*Always remember that you are not a criminal

*You should have lots of patience

*Don’t lose hope if you are stranded long in one place, that’s part of hitch hiking

*Don’t stand waiting to hitch at the dark places

*Remember, asking food is not a crime

*Hitch hiking is challenging and lots of fun

*Don’t be shy to ask any people, if you think you are strayed

*Don’t travel a long destination if there is no experienced hitch hiker accompanied you

HITCH HIKING GUIDE FROM MANILA TO DAVAO CITY

This is a long way ride that reached about five to six days if you are just a beginner, so get ready for yourself for the long and exciting challenge, always remember the importance of Hitch hiking and 101. Before you hit the road, you should bring map, and 180-200pesos it is really recommended because you are going to cross two islands, VISAYAS and MINDANAO because the Philippines are divided into three major islands.

 

While traveling going down to the south of MINDANAO, you can drop by every places has a d.i.y. underground scene meet them and witness and join some of their activities, now you’ll see how fun hitting the road, hitch hiking… Their contacts are below:

 

Alright, the starting point is ALABANG before the toll gate take a hitch there, how? Just raise your right hand or right thumb that could catch the attention of the driver, sometimes it is hard to take a hitch ride to trucks, cars, vans and any private vehicles there, so you’ll need to take an alternative hitch with the buses, just take the ordinary buses going to CALAMBA/LUCENA, buses are not really recommended but just take a try, be polite and be a good boy asking and explain it to the conductor/driver that you don’t have money for the fare and of cors with the facial expression and just drop by at TURBINA, LAGUNA there are lots of trucks there, so you’ll start again here, sometimes there are trucks and private vehicles that are going straight to BICOL and SORSOGON, MATNOG, so you are very lucky if you could hitch ride with that straight, but if there’s non, just do a connecting trip, now the fun and excitement is starting. From CALAMBA, the next was SAN PABLO LAGUNA, BATANGAS then the QUEZON provinces to LUCENA, TAYABAS, CAMARINES SUR, ALBAY, and to the BICOL Province to SORSOGON there’s a crossing there, the right side is going to MATNOG and left side is going to SORSOGON, you should be careful with your right way, don’t be shy to ask, always look at your map, now, take the road going to MATNOG, and this is the end of Luzon, yeah! Traveling time from ALABANG to MATNOG is about 16 hours more or less.

You are now entering the VISAYAS. At the MATNOG port, it is not recommended to take a hitch at the boat, it is not effective, unless you are really good to hypnotized the ticket seller, hehe! The boat fare is I guess P80+ its about two hours to reach ALLEN port, and you are already entering SAMAR,

In this place, there’s a crossing, the left side is going to CATARMAN, and the right side is going to CATBALOGAN, don’t take the CATARMAN road, that’s a wrong a way, I remember, we were stranded there for a long hours, hehe! So take the road going to CALBAYOG, CATBALOGAN, oh by the way, at the port of ALLEN there’s a lot of trucks there, try to ask and convince the drivers there, maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll take you a hitch ride, mostly trucks there are going to TACLOBAN and sometimes going straight to SURIGAO, well, ok, lets continue, from ALLEN, SAMAR take a nice hitch going to CALBAYOG, CATBALOGAN, TACLOBAN, you will see the famous and beautiful long bridge called SAN JUANICO BRIDGE, wow! Yahooooo! It will take you 6 to 8 hours from ALLEN, SAMAR, now, you are entering the LEYTE PROVINCES.

 

D.I.Y SCENE AND CONTACTS IN THIS PLACES:

 

CATARMAN ; I didn’t know any contacts here, but some one says; NOT FOR SALE already played a d.i.y gig here. Just try to look any punx here, if you got in this place.

 

CATBALOGAN, TACLOBAN : I don’t know if there is a u.g scene here or any radikal activities, when we got in this place, I only saw some skaters, but I don’t have a chance to ask them if there’s a d.i.y scene or something like that. Some one says, there’s an underground shop in this place, well, I am not sure.

 

In ILO-ILO CITY I know there’s a scene there but this is a wrong way going to DAVAO.

 

Now, from TACLOBAN, take a good hitch, don’t forget to look at your map, don’t be shy to ask people where’s the right way going to LILO-AN port, and this is the end of VISAYAS, TACLOBAN TO LILO-AN will take you 5-7 hours, now, you will gonna cross the sea again going to LIPATA, SURIGAO it will take you 2hours for a boat ride and you will need 100-120 pesos for the fare, as I have said, hitch ride on the boat is not recommended because they are very strict! You are now entering MINDANAO! Yeheeeeeey!

 

LIPATA, SURIGAO, ask some people about the right road going to MAINIT, ALEGRIA, BUTUAN, oh take note, in MAINIT, there’s a crossing again there, the left side is going to TANDAG, SURIGAO DEL SUR and that’s going to the south of SURIGAO, take the right side going to the NORTH of SURIGAO, now hitch a ride go straight to BUTUAN, AGUSAN DEL NORTE, PROSPERIDAD, AGUSAN DEL SUR-then DAVAO DEL NORTE [COMPOSTELA], then TAGUM and your last destination, you’ll gonna see WELCOME TO DAVAO CITY!!! Oh yeaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!!!!…from the port of LIPATA, SURIGAO TO DAVAO CITY will take about 8-9 hours.

While on the road, be sure you are not hungry, there’s a lot of food around you, remember the IMPORTANCE OF HITCH HIKING? “asking food is not a crime”, go to the eatery/carenderia ask politely with the facial expression of cors, be sure you look starving, for an old rice [bahaw,tutong,dukot] and a sauce and water, [solb na yun tsong],

 

If you are stranded in one place for a long hours and it is already dark, leave the hitch hiking for a moment, don’t stay at the dark place so that you will not be looking suspicious to people, look for a place to sleep/rest, [at the municipal hall, park, or even at the police station it’s safe there and they also offer you some food, hehe, at the terminals are also safe, or go to the DSWD they will also offer you food and sometimes they will also gave you money, hehe!

 

Be friendly to the people you met on the road tell them some stories [chika chika] some people has an angelic heart they will offer you food and bed.

Sometimes the driver of the trucks you are riding will also stop by at eatery/carenderia for a coffee and food, mostly of them will offer you coffee and food.

 

If you have a cell fone, keep it off, so that the driver will not think that you don’t have money or something like that, don’t eat and smoke while riding a hitch, unless the driver offer you some cigarette and food.

It will only take you 5 to 6 hours, it depends, some punx only takes 4 hours, but that’s for the fastcore hitch hikers.

 

Starting point is from BALINTAWAK, CAMACHILE, before the toll gate to the North express way or at the MALINTA EXIT, catch a good hitch there, go straight to BULACAN, SAN FERNANDO PAMPANGA, GUAGUA [don’t take the road going to DAU, ANGELES CITY that’s a wrong way] just take the long high way from SAN FERNANDO PAMPANGA and drop by at the crossing to BALANGA BATAAN, there’s a monument at the center so that will serve you as the land mark, going straight is BALANGA, BATAAN, but don’t take that road, that’s a wrong way, turn right, and you’ll see WELCOME TO DINALUPIHAN, LAYAK, now, ask some one if you are not sure of the road you’re hitting, then take a hitch now going to OLOGAPO, from DINALUPIHAN, LAYAK TO OLOGAPO will only take 1 hour, and you are entering OLOGAPO CITY, then ask some one for the right way going to SAN MARCELINO ZAMBALES, will only takes 40 minutes, or you can also ride a hitch to a jeep, there’s a terminal there besides Wendy’s fast food and near the VICTORY LINER TERMINAL, just convince the driver, recite the good mantra, then after 40 minutes, you’ll gonna see WELCOME TO SAN MARCELINO ZAMBALES…YEHEY!!! 1.Hello Corix, What’s up with you lately?

Corix: Hails to you Randyl, nothing much lately, just getting drunk, getting stoned, and I guess my mother is getting tired of me ‘cuz I am still dependent, lazy and that is a fucking shame, well, that is true! J

 

2.Please tell us something about yourself, if you don’t mind how old are you now? When did you first find out underground music?

* My name is Corix, a drunk and lousy editor of a pissed off underground printed zine/webzine in the rotting third world country Philippines and becoming [fourth world], I am also into a band called AFM and TOXEMIA a noise grinding drunk band and just totally shit band, I am an ugly, lazy, lousy and a drunk bastard but a huge fuckin’ supporter in the fuckin’ underground.

 

I discover the underground music I guess in the mid 90’s and just been active very late actually, sometime in 2001-2002. and I am 26 years fucking old of conditioning.

 

3.What made you decide to start No Bullshit Zine, and when was the first issue come out?

* I start writing fanzine because there is no underground scene in my area, I write because I want to influence kids about the underground music, scene and culture, I want to educate them what is u.g is all about, that’s how I first writing shits.

 

My first issue was officially released October 2003 as a printed zine.

 

4.You’ve released four printed issues at this time and I understand that almost every day No Bullshit zine online version is updated.  How do you manage to keep your time doing all this shits?

* It was just happen that my online version is daily updated because I have an internet access at home, and I have nothing to do here just to eat, sleep, drink, smoke, masturbate and sit in front of this fucking technology.

 

5.When you were just starting, do you find it difficult to find bands and stuffs to be reviewed and interviewed for the first issue?  

* Yes, it was very difficult for me when I first start writing shits, my first issue is a type written with some hand writing shits because I don’t have a personal computer at that time and honestly, I don’t know how to use this kind of technology, it was just happen when my mother bought a pc and I start to learn how to fuck this shit.

 

It really gives me a hard time looking for bands in my first issue, because mostly local bands don’t care about fanzine, and if you send interview to them, they sometimes don’t bother to answer it, only few local bands who has a demo at that time.

 

It also really gives me a hard time finding bands abroad because it is hard for me to communicate them through snail mail because of the postage is getting real high, and you know, I am jobless shit head and even can’t afford to buy a piece of cigar sometimes, and also I don’t know how to use the internet/e-mail and don’t have even knowledge about computer. So it is fuckin’ difficult for me at that time.J

 

6.What I like most in your zine is you keep on mixing up all underground Punk, Metal and hardcore bands.  How did you come up with this idea? Why have you not decided to focus only on metal bands?

* I mixed those kind of genre because at first when I was young, I was into folk rock, rock n’ roll, heavy metal and glam rock, then discovered hardcore/punk in my high school days, then suddenly discovered death metal and all other extreme music, and I still love those kind of music ‘cuz I have never been closed minded shit.

 

Why I decided not to focus on metal only, that’s because I never been a close minded shit as what I have said, and I am still discovering some kind of different destructing music as long as it is an “underground”

 

7.Of all the bands you’ve reviewed and interviewed who among them you dig and listen to a lot?

* uhhmmm….I can’t figure it out really ‘cuz I like mostly of them and it could fill half of the page I guess, hehe! but I guess in my current issue, I can say DEMIURGE, PATHOGEN & NEGATRONE, DUROG NA MUNDO SPLIT with DFTW & DISSIMULATE, ANGST, NUCLEAR PUNISHMENT, PARACONFLICT, CHAMBER 69, PAGAN FIRE & INSANITY, INFILTRATION, BEERBREAK, COMATOSE, BARA DE KABRA etc. and for foreign: CARNAL REDEMPTION, OPUS DEAD, SKULL GRINDER, IVORY NIGHT, BLOODY SIGN, SAPFHIER, DISCLOSE, CRUEL FACE, ALGOL, DEATHSTARR, EVISCERATE, HEMORAGY, MASS INFECTION, PUTREFIED GENITALIA, DAMNATION ARMY etc. that spins my fucking player these days.J

 

8.Ok this next question is the same question asked by Patrick Shroeder to keith of Eternal Darkness Creation interview for No Bullshit Zine.  And the question goes like this:  Are there any killer zines today that you enjoy reading?  In your opinion what makes a good zine?

* Yes, there are lot, I enjoy reading NOT 4 SALE ZINE, DEAD RECKONING ZINE, IMPALED ZINE, PUTANG INA MO ZINE, HOAX CONFLICT, RADIKAL PRIMATES FANZINE, [UNDERWORLD] TRENDCRUSHER ZINE, IN DARK PURITY ZINE, TRIPALIUM ZINE, NORTHRNATMOSTFEAR AND CHRONICORE ZINE, etc. and for foreign are: METAL INDIA MAGAZINE [INDIA], SEWER ZINE [GREECE], PAINFUL REALITY ZINE [USA], TOILET PAPER ZINE [GERMANY], S&L [USA] ETC.

 

A good zine is not about nice and cool layout or a glossy shit and a pro pressed type of zine it is really about the writings of the editor how he/she work to make it interesting, informative to read and not boring. And most of all not a kiss ass one.

 

9.Let’s talk about your own label, what made you decide to put up a DIY label? [JOBLESS PRODUCTION]

* I decided to put up this shit so that I could help u.g bands that needs an attention, to expose in the underground in my own little way.

 

10.So far how many releases already out and are there any new upcoming releases?

* So far, it is just a #, NO BULLSHIT ZINE COMPILATION VOL. 1 & 2, A.F.M [DEMO], TOXEMIA DEMO, INSANITY [DEMO].and the upcoming is the “GUTOM LANG” lang demo from Laguna, hope I could find some money for this, it is gonna be a killer one.J

 

11.We all know that writing and publishing underground zines like No Bullshit zine is a non-profit based shit.  My question is how do you manage to distribute all this stuffs knowing that copying from Xerox machine is expensive and you got issues raging from 60 pages front and back, as well as the materials like: cd-r, cd case etc. where do you get money for the distribution of this shits?

* Well, this is actually the problem I am experiencing right now and even before, ‘cuz money rules each one of us, where I get it? Honestly, It is very shameful to say that some of it came from my parent’s pocket and some are from the help and support of a true friend, well, she know who she is, you fucking rule! J

 

12.On the average, how many copies do you target to release per issues?

* There is no target anyway, it only depends, if I got a big amount of money, then I will print tons of copies for my zine in every issue. And if there’s someone will ask for a trade, then I just reprint it, something like that J

 

13.You’ve said that you practice veganism before but it just lasted for only 6 months.  What happen?

* I tried it, and just lasted almost 6 months I guess, ‘cuz it is really hard for me, when I am traveling and away from home, and it comes the time of my laziness when I got a hang over and sometimes my mother forgot to buy vegetable and when you got home there’s no vegetable to cook and you are fucking starving, so it is really hard for me, and sometimes when we eat together with my family, I get tempted when they are eating lechon manok, sinigang, grilled pork, barbeque etc. that I love to eat, uuhhmm… man, that’s fucking yummy, right? hehe! And one thing, if I’m far away home with my friends who loves drinking alcohol and no veggies to eat, so you are forced to eat just only rice and soy sauce and sometimes I don’t eat while drinking alcohol and makes me vomit and I got sick for that, so I decided to stop it.

I am not discouraging people who just started practicing vegetarianism, it just happen that it doesn’t work for me because I am an alcoholic shit head, so it is hard to mixed up alcoholism and vegetarianism, hehe J

 

14.During that time you were a vegan, who cook’s for you and what do you usually eat?

* I cook for my self, just a d.i.y vegan menu, experimenting vegetable, why I last about 6 months, because my mother supported me, sometimes she cook for me, and when I woke up I had already a veggie food to eat.J

 

15.I understand you abuse alcohol very hard, what are your favorite brand of beer and hard liquors?

* I love the Emperador brandy, Matador kicks ass too, and it’s more cheaper than the emperador, Gin [bilog and the kwatro kantos] is cheap and fucking killer too, Red horse beer is fucking killer and ass kicking.

You can also mixed the emperador and red horse beer with ice, and also Gin [bilog and the kwatro kantos] mixed it with red horse beer and ice, it is also fucking killer man! And more cheaper! You will all end up head banging, slam dancing and pogoing in your house. hehe

 

But what I love the most is the TUBA and LAMBANOG it kicks weak asses man! more cheaper than the cheapest one! And even you can ask it for free, that’s why I love to hang out in Lucena City and Laguna for a pure fucking LAMBANOG! Tuba and Lambanog rules, man! You will end up head banging while drinking that shit, man! Is there any pure Lambanog in your place man? pls. let me know.J

 

16.Have you tried drinking in an expensive bar?

NO! I can’t even afford to buy a piece of cigarette, man! I would rather drink in a place with full of garbage and smelly and full of shit, than to drink in an expensive bar.

 

17.Your mind usually works if you’re drunk and stoned; are there any instances that you feel your mind is not functioning anymore? Hehehe...

* Yeah! Sometimes, man! hehe!…but honestly, I could speak better English and better ideas when I am drunk, did is speak better right now? Well, I guess I am drunk now. Hehe!J

 

18.If you will be given a chance to become the President of The Republic of the Philippines for 1 year what are the things do you wish to do?  Besides of getting drunk every day!!!

* Well, I will legalize marijuana, all goods etc are NO PRICE only for trade, and of corpse alcohol and beers are for free, hehe! FOODS ARE FREE, I will reject all kinds of money, no money will be involve in this country, No Flag because it divides us, because for me we all stand in one Flag, one Race, and one Love. * uhm, this is also another one that our government should also focus rather than buying guns and bombs, we are in the name of crisis when it comes to our economic situation.

 

20.What are your views about our local scene, do you think it is really going bigger or are we still dealing with a lot of Bullshit?

* It would be very much bigger if we fanzines would not stop to support, educate and share our thoughts and views of what is really an underground, because this is our role being the medium, because there are still lots of bands still don’t even know what is fanzine and d.i.y,

 

But we should not diss each one of us, teach and share each one of us instead, if you are dealin’ with bullshit people or what we called poser? Then, it is our time for action, educate and influence them, share your thoughts, knowledge and views of what you believe in so that our scene will be fucking huge, real and true! Because not all of us are naturally born “UndergrounD”.

 

21.What do you get in return from writing a zine, and till when will you do No Bullshit zine?

* I don’t expect anything in return, because if you want to contribute in the scene, you should not expect something in return because it is a “Passion” not a “Fashion”

 

I still don’t know till when my zine last because we don’t know if our life last that long, but I really hope it would be ETERNAL. Sometimes when I saw a fanzine that is already in there 50^th issue, I also feel and hoping that my zine would reach that issue or more than that too. I remember the saying –“It is better to be a survival than a pioneering one” but not in the scene anymore.J

 

22.What are your future plans for No Bullshit Zine, to Jobless Production, to the Underground scene and to your self?

* More and more issues, releases and organize gigs for free!

It’s been a year since my 3rd issue was published, ‘cuz I been lazy and half asleep, ‘cuz I think people are sleeping too, honestly, I am really a lazy head, wake up at 1pm, so I have no enough time for editing my zine to print it out for you plus I am working for tons of reviews, doing interviews so I decided to focus on my webzine, and one thing is that, I am lack of financial budget and I can’t even support my daily needs like; how to eat three time a day, how to get drunk, and to get stoned, but anyway, the mighty No Bullshit! Webzine version is daily updated, for News and Updates, Gigs scheds, Flyers, Interviews, Reviews, Articles and other shits to check out for all you bastards in the underground, but you know, I cant promised to do that for a lifetime because life treated me bad sometimes, so I hope you would cooperate and support the underground zines and webzine ‘cuz this is the only true medium of the underground, that will share you some ideas, knowledge, resources and contacts, and remember, this is a non profit shit!

Beside from being lazy and a drunkass head, I still manage to attend gigs sometime in weekend, but mostly in the hardcore/punk scene ‘cuz I really feel the d.i.y ethics than to watch a metal gig which is always in the bar and club scene with an expensive entrance fee that the lower class people can’t afford on it, ‘cuz 100pesos is already a big amount for a lower class heads here in the Philippines. I don’t see the d.i.y ethics anymore that for me is the true essence of the underground, so why you metal productions don’t dare to put a non profit gig if you think you are true in the underground scene, not only the productions but all of us individuals, we can do it by means of collectivity, or maybe you guys should read fanzine, attend underground convention, discussions and other shits for the d.i.y ethics. 01. Hellish drunk greetings to you Corix?!? How the fuck is the drunken life? What the intoxicating concoction you have indulged lately? Do you make or answer interviews drunk?

Corix [Nbzine]: Hails! Drunk bastard Roy, how’s your fuckin’ life too? Life been treating me so bad but when I get drunk, I enjoyed and feel that life is really beautiful even though life sometimes sucks! Alcohol is the best friend than human. Hehe!

I was into drinking Lambanog and Tuba now a days, ‘cuz that shit fucking rule, man! Than those expensive and branded alcohol or beers, and honestly I am not drunk right now, ‘cuz I just got up from sleep and actually I am drunk when I received this intie, but I am so wasted to answer it. Hehe!

And yes, I did answering interviews drunk, I guess twice, one zine abroad and a local zine, because my mind really works when I am with the spirit of alcohol, and honestly I can speak better English when I am drunk.

02. Is 'Corix' really your real name or a tag name given to 'coz you drank lots of Corix D Syrup? If such, who gave you that name & why?

No, my real name is Uldarico Baluca Jr., sounds and ethnic old man and really sounds funny! Hehe! It was actually started when I was studying in college before, and they called me “Rico” instead of “Uldarico”, it was just accidentally happened when one of my friend called me “ Corix” and inverted word of “ Rico” ‘cuz, you know, Filipino are fan of saying an inverted word, and I found it cool since I love drinking cough syrup when I was in high school, but I never tasted the “Corix D” cough syrup ‘cuz that’s an old school cough syrup, that shit was already banned at that time, but I know you Roy have tasted and enjoyed getting wasted with that in your high school days, uhhhhmmm, it seems that you are already old Roy, hehehe!…but I enjoyed drinking back in the days with Pseudoplex, Menthodex and, …oh! Fuck I forgot the other one!…oh yeah, I already remember, it was “Pydol” not sure with spelling, hehe! So, that was the story behind my name “Corix”

03. Tell us how did you get hooked in metal? You are also into punk right? Tell us how it all happened?

I was actually influenced by my older brother, because he has a band before that plays Black Sabbath, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Deep Purple etc. when I was in a grade school, and they love drinking alcohol and passing some joints when they jammed at home, I was like; damn! What the fuck they are doing?! …my brother is my hero.

When I reached high school, I am not ashamed to tell everyone that I was also into Glam Rock like; Tesla, Skid Row, Poison, Warrant etc. and just suddenly discovered Slayer, Metallica and Megadeth and Metal Church and suddenly discovered Carcass, Obituary, Morbid Angel etc.

When we migrated Cavite from Surigao somewhere in Mindanao, I was 4th year high school at that time in Valenzuela, Metro Manila, and the scene there is a hardcore/punk and honestly most of my classmates there are into it, so that was first started also that I get into hardcore/punk.

04. Your NO BULLSHIT ZINE, this is both a webzine & print zine, right? Did you plan it to be that way even in the beginning?

No, honestly, I don’t have knowledge how to fuck this technology and to surf the fucking net before when I first write a zine, I don’t have any idea what is internet or how to do it. My first zine is very crappy of all crappiest zine on earth, because I am just in a lower class writer that can’t afford to rent a personal computer, or we can say poor than rats in the gutter.

05. Can you weigh the pros & cons of a web zine against a print zine? Which is easier for you to do? Why do you do both??

Webzine is the easiest and cheapest way to do than the printed zine, I do it both because I started as a printed zine, it was just happen that I put an online zine when my mother bought a personal computer and started to learn how to fuck this technology, and I found it cool because you can post your interviews, reviews, news, updates and other articles right away, and the kids could get easily access what are happening in the underground scene, to educate them in the underground not discouraging them or dissing them, but because not all creatures have an access on that shit, there are lots of our brothers and sisters in the underground and specially in the third word country like our country corrupt Philippines who don’t have access on it, so I still do both for the love of the scene even though printed zine causes an ass pain and pain in the wallet because I don’t have a job, so that’s the reason why my printed version is very delayed, and beside from jobless, I am lazy too, drunk and most of all, ugly! Hehe!

06. You do everything in the zine too, right? Even the web layout? Did you study web programming or HTML shit somewhere? How did you acquire the skills to do it?

Yes, I did everything in the zine, but not in the web lay out and even the web programming or HTML shit like that, because honestly, I just learned how to use computer last early 2004, when I was studying in college, we don’t have computer subject at that time, our school is a very shitty school! And even if I guess we have computer subjects or lessons at that time, I will not learn anything from it because I was very busy hanging out with my no future friends, you know am sayin’? hehe! Drinking and smoking shits, that’s why I didn’t finished my course.

My friend did the layout of my webzine version for free, and he just teached me how to update it in the file manager, so I am now the one updating my drunk webshit.

But at that time when I first put an online zine, it is hard for me because I didn’t know how to update it, I just send the materials to my webmaster and sometimes it get delayed to post online because you know, not all the time that my webmaster has the time to update it right away.

07. Lets rewind<<<< Who is the first international band that you interviewed? How about the first local band? Did you feel at ease when you did the interviews? Are you satisfied by their answer?

I guess my first foreign interview was ESKAPO, actually they are Filipinos but they are now hailing from the U$A right now, and my first local intie and my first ever intie I did was the band HOPSKATCH, I don’t feel at ease at that time when I first did my interview with Hopskatch because it was like; “BASTA NA” questions, hehe! I don’t know that shit in English, I am not good in English hehe! But still, I am satisfied and enjoyed their answers.

08. Did you have a hard time starting the zine, like getting contacts, asking for demo, etc? Who influenced you or why did you exactly started a zine?

I first actually write a zine because there is no u.g scene in my area, and I want to influenced kids about the u.g scene and music, and of course the old fanzine that I’ve read give me a chance to write and influenced me.

I first thought writing a fanzine is very easy, actually, it’s been a long time that I am in hiatus in the scene when I was working before, after I lost my job, I picked up my old fanzine and read again, and that’s decide me to start writing shits.

Yes, it is really hard starting a zine for me because I don’t have any new contact, before I write shit, I picked the contact addresses in my old punk zine, and send them a snail mail, I guess it was about more than 30 local addresses and only one replied back and that was Boi of Betloogs zine from Laguna, so, that was also another reason why I start to write a zine because I feel that the zine scene in the Philippines is dying.

Getting contacts and asking demo abroad gives me a hard time because I don’t have money to send snail mail abroad, and also because, as what I have said I don’t have knowledge how to use the internet before.

09. Let's go to the present>>>> Your issue#4 will be out soon, do you have a target date or month for this? Is your print issue the same as per posted on your website?

Yes, my 4th issue will be coming out this mid of February 2005, but actually, I don’t have any target or deadline in every issue, it will just come out every time I got money to print my crap, and actually my 5th issue is already waiting. And, yes, what you’ve seen in my webshit is also printed in my zine.

10. How many copies do you usually make? Do you re-print the old releases even after a year or so?

If I got a big amount of money, then I will make tons of copies, it only depends how much money I got….Yes, I still reprint my old issue if some one is asking.

11. You included a compilation CD-R in your issue#3, will you include one for #4? What do you think is the good thing about including a compilation?

Yes, my 4th crappy issue has a compilation cd-r included, with 30 local bands from Luzon Visayas and Mindanao.

The good thing about including a compilation is that, the bands could get exposure and the people who buy, trade or ask it for free of your zine could have an idea of what those bands sounded in your interviews and reviews, but I have different style from the other zine who also did a compilation because I only compile local bands, that for me, I could help them and expose them abroad in my own little way, because we all know that mostly Filipino bands can’t afford or lack of money to promote their materials abroad because mostly of them are jobless and in a lower class.

12. Tell us about "Jobless Production", is this run by you only? It does release compilations & demos, right? How many releases are in its list now?

Yeah, I run that shit, It has I guess three releases of local d.i.y demos and mostly are into a lo-fi mode, and I am planning to release an experimental and cultural noise from a local demo, because for me it is really different and not a trendy thing in our country, have you heard any local band who are into experimental noise with out using electronics shit?…this band did, and the name of the band is “GUTOM LANG” hope I could get some money for this project, and also to those who like experimental noise, pls. Watch out for this. And also my band TOXEMIA that plays crust/grind/noise, don’t watch this band…this is a joke band ..hehe

13. How about your band, I don't actually know what AFM means, is it Anal Fuck Machine? Is the band still active?

Haha! That shit has no official meaning, and it stands for whatever shit that will come on your mind, but I like what you’ve said, ANAL FUCK MACHINE kicks weak asses! Is there any band abroad uses that name? .I guess you gave me a nice idea and meaning of the band.

Yes the band is still alive, but two of the members are inactive right now, because they are busy with their studies, girlfriends and I want them to focus on it, not the band, but still AFM is still there.

14. Who are the members of the AFM? Who is the main brain behind this band? How long does it exist now?

It was started with my childish brain last early 2003, and it was about two years now, the members are: Me-No talent in vox and no skill in guitar, Ronnel the Rat-on four string bass, but he is just using the two string of the bass guitar, Sazzy Bok – no talent drummer but a talented fucker.

15. Who are the influences that molded AFM to its musical style? Are the members in the same wavelength regarding the bands mindset?

The band musical influences was actually punk rock, at first, I wanted to play hardcore,crust,grind but my band mates don’t want to play that kind of music, they just want to play plain fucked up punk, but since I like that shit, so I decided to do it.

16. Jobless Production released a demo of AFM, does AFM have other releases besides this? When was the demo officially released?

Yes, we have other tracks recorded at our gutter, but since the sound recording is really fucked up, we decided not to release it…AFM demo was actually released mid 2003.

17. How many gigs does AFM played so far? It is fun going to gigs drunk, but have you played live drunk?

Lots of gigs already, we played everywhere where there is d.i.y hc/punk gig, even we are not in the line up, we go there with out instruments and just drink at the corner, we just borrowed instrument from other bands if there is a slot to play. Only me always played drunk, and my band mates are just fucking stoned, and can’t even remember the riffs, but that is punk music! So much fun!

18. You sent me an e-flyer of a gig there in Maragondon, Cavite. AFM was in the line up, right? How was the gig? You are also a co-organizer, what can you say about the over all crowd response? Are there any fuck-ups? No police trouble??

The gig was cool! No rednecks! And fucked ups! Just total chaos! I just can’t believe about the response of the crowd, they support the scene here even though it is too far, and lots of bands from different provinces also support that gig. No police trouble anyway.

19. You are very active there in the Philippines & I think you have a better view of what's going on there, so what can you say about the Philippine's Metal Scene? Do you think that it is stably progressing?

Yes, I guess so, because I saw lots of metal bands here, but still, lots of metal bands here don’t know what is really underground, and some don’t even know what is fanzine, what is d.i.y, and I guess it will be going bigger if we fanzines we also help them, educate them what is really an “underground” because that is our role being a medium in the u.g right? Because not all of us who started and know what is underground “right away”! or born “underground” “right away” It could not help the scene if we just talk some shit and dis each one. Lets teach each one, sharing knowledge and thoughts is very important, because for me, I love being educated, and that’s the best solution so that our scene will be fucking real!

20. How can you see thru at bands & bangers who are not really into what underground is all about? What are the usual shit that you have to deal with?

I always encountered like that here in the Philippines, that they say they are underground but don’t even know what is fanzine and d.i.y but I didn’t dis them, but I educate them and I share some of my knowledge instead, as what I have said, not all creatures who started the underground thing “right away”, or naturally born “underground” “right away” and I will never ever believed if people will say, they start the underground right away! That’s bullshit for me!

21. You have been to Davao right? How was it? Which places there have you been intoxicately experienced? Any fucking shitty stories or extremely fucked-up funny stories you want to share??

Yeah, I been in Davao lately and witnessed their scene, but yeah, we could not forget what they did of a shameful scum about the rip offs, but I will not curse the Davao in general.

I have lots of fun when I was there, and even drunk all night, I been there thru “hitch”, ‘cuz I believed that, that is the alternative way to travel for we people who can’t afford the fare expenses to travel our “OWN” land.

When I was there, I saw how generous people they are, from punk to metal, and they bring me to the beach, mountains and hanging to the down town where punx and metal heads drink and smoke shits! And even amazed me when they bring me to the far province in Davao but there is an underground scene that do a d.i.y ethics, oh yeah! Cool!

What I remember is that, I am always drunk and when I woke up I feel the pain of free tattoos they did on my body, hell yeah! And of course, I remember puking when we drink Tuba! That shit fucking kick ass! And destroy my throat. Hehe! Thanx to Davao people u.g scenesters, you all fucking rule!

22. You deal not only with metal but also with punk & everything in between, is it easy to be in such a mixed genre environment? Most people I know transcends from punk to metal, some says you can only be either Punk or Metal or neither, even in metal I have encountered people who told me I could only be either DM or BM or HM or Thrash or a Poser, would you share your view on this?

It is really hard, because I cater all kinds of genre as long as it is “underground” I am an open minded drunk head, as I have said, I am first into rock, metal and punk when I was younger, and until now I am still discovering some kind of musical style that I didn’t heard before.

I have also encountered a local band criticized me about my zine, actually this band is a black metal band, maybe you already know what I am talking about! Hehe, he said that I don’t know where I stand…but you know, I don’t care about that, ‘cuz I stand in a word “underground” what can I do if I like punk and metal? And who cares if I like punk and metal? And I will never ever put away punk music because I was focusing into metal now a days, and I will never ever be closed minded! I don’t care people who are closed minded shit! And I will not waste my time for them, they are just a bunch of hypocrite!…like some people I’ve encountered that they say they don’t listen to punk, only metal, but if you go to their house, you can see bunch of glam rock and punk rock records! That’s another bullshit!

23. Do you put criteria or a standard on how metal a band or specifically a person is? Do think that metal heads should be long haired, tattooed, body pierced, drunkards, etc??

Hell No! I didn’t put criteria or standard of a metal band or individual, and I will never ever put that kind of way, there’s a saying that “don’t judge the book by it’s cover” hehe! Look at Roel Mores of Tripalium zine he doesn’t smoke and drink and I don’t even saw some tattoos in his body but I Hail that bastard when it comes to metal!

24. Who is the most influential person, band, zine or literature which has changed the way you think about life? When did you find out that life is not what it seems to be?

The most influential person is my older brother, because he influenced me about rock music since I was a kid, he never teach me how to drink and smoke but still I follow what he is doing, sometimes I feel heavy metal is a bad influence! Because I learn how to smoke and drink with this kind of music. hehe

I cant remember what literature in particular that inspires me and changed my way to think about life, but I guess, mostly hardcore punk fanzine from past to the present I’ve read because they always write about life and very inspiring writings that you couldn’t read it in metal zines, that life is really beautiful and you should enjoy it, ‘cuz life is so fucking short.
Honestly speaking, you can say, I am not a “real” metal, even though I first start listening into metal music, ‘cuz I don’t treat metal as my way of life, I treat metal as my music in life, instead, I treat my life as a punk and not a music. [parang ang gulong angulo ah!] hehe! I guess I am starving. Huhu!

25. As a zine maker you got to listen to so many bands & read lots of zine, Who are the bands & zines you would recommend, international, from cavite and from the rest of the Philippines?

Oh there’s a lot! Ok, from zines; I would recommend local metal zine: TRIPALIUM ZINE, UNDERWORLD ZINE but this zine don’t exist anymore and I guess you know this zine…hehe!, IN DARK PURITY, DEAD RECKONING, SCENE ZINE, IMPALED ZINE, SCRAWLSHOP ZINE, and of cors, TRENDCRUSHER! local hc/punk zine OATHMEAL, PUTANG INA MO ZINE, GRAN PELIGRO ZINE, CRAPSALAD ZINE, NOISEATTACK ZINE, HOAX CONFLICT ZINE etc.

Sometimes I feel life really SUCKS big time, but I still enjoyed life even though life treated me bad, but I don’t feel life sucks if I am drunk or stoned.
And I think the cause of all suffering that we have is that, we people ourselves, and we should changed it for our better, Christianity or religion has nothing to do about it, ‘cuz I believed human are naturally corrupt, well, I will not explain it further ‘cuz you are not asking why, haha!

27. We can easily see the bad things, so, is there any good thing you can say about life? So would you call your self a pessimist?

I am not a pessimist, as I have said, I still enjoyed life. There’s a lot of good things in life that most people don’t know, if you learn how to love, then you’ll gonna realized how beautiful life can be, maybe sometimes people hate life if they failed about love, if they failed about their studies, jobs and everything, but that is part of the life challenge, and for me, that is very interesting, that thrilled me, yes, sometimes I feel to terminate my life, but just suddenly I realized the beauty of it, look at me, I don’t still have job, and been failed about love, ugly, lazy, no money and just totally shit, but still I enjoyed life!…hope this inspires people who are reading right now, that life is beautiful even if you are ugly, hehe!

28. Do you believe in GOD and the Anti-God? How about death, do you fear it? How about Heaven, hell, ghost & spirits, what are your views about them?

That’s what my parents teach me, and even in my school when I was in a grade school and even in high school ‘cuz I study in a catholic school, but you know, I am not sure right now if I still believe in God, I never called him anymore, I don’t know, I am not sure if I still believe in God, I am still seeking if he is really real! … And I don’t believe in any religion anymore! But I don’t believe in Satan! Fuck Satan!

About death? I am not scared about death, if it comes to me, well I’ll be glad, because I have so much problem in life, and sick and tired of our system, but I want a sudden death, but still, I want to live so that I could help, inspire people in my writings and work even though I am not good, but still I wanna find time to improve it, or in any other way that I could contribute good in our society, our scene, to our brothers and sisters in this land who has no home and starving that the fucking higher class people don’t even care about them, my future family, love, and in my parents.

About heaven and hell? Fuck that, we are already experiencing HELL in this land, this country/planet is HELL! All I want is heaven in this land, I wanna see HEAVEN in this land, I want to experience Heaven right now! *Corix [No Bullshit Zine]: My name is Corix Baluca, I am writing a zine called No Bullshit Zine, an open minded underground webzine/printed zine, you don’t ask me about myself, but well, I will include it in this shit, hehe! I am a drunk, lazy, ugly and lousy editor not good as those underground editors worldwide, and most crappiest printed zine in this planet.

When did your 1st issue come out? What motivated you?

*It was started mid 2002, but the first issue come out early October 2003, it was a cut and paste and a shit lay out and a type written and photo copy shit, that I cant stomach to see it these days, hehe! Because I don’t have a personal computer before and honestly I don’t have any knowledge in computer because when I was studying in college before we don’t have computer subject, and even can’t afford to rent that shit. My first plan also was to do it in a hand written shit but since my hand writing is like a chicken scratch, so I decided to do it in a type writer. Hehe! But before I write my first issue I first contacted more than 30 local editors Luzon Visayas, Mindanao in the contact list I got on my old zines thru snail mail but only 1 replied me back out of 30, uhm, man! Imagine that? And that’s BETLOOG ZINE of Boi from A.D.A, so, that was also motivated me to write because of the zine scene were already declined.
The idea why I write shit like this because there is no underground scene in my area, and I want to help educate, promote the u.g in my place, and that’s the first plan, before going widely in the scene.

What was the inspiration behind the name of your zine? How did you get it out there? How much did you sell it for?

*I am not inspired with anybody behind the name of my zine “No Bullshit!” it was just comes out in my mind, and actually I want to changed it, but I decided not to, because I guess that was already recognized in some little way. Hehe! But I am inspired with the old zines I have read before like the MOON MADNESS, NEWSKASTER, S&L, CHAOS ZINE, TRIPALIUM, NOISECORE to name a few.

After the first issue was done, I distribute it in my area for only 20 pesos and it is equivalent to; 50cents in the US currency, and sometimes free, but I was so sad with the reaction of the kids here, because they don’t want shit zine like mine, and they still prefer the mainstream, glossy shit with cock sucking bands!

I don’t think it sells, because my intention is to educate kids, and it all ended free.

How did you pay for the first issue? What was the press run?

*It was about 30 pages whole size of the band paper, cut and paste and a type written like what I have said in my second answer in your second question, I can’t remember how much I pay it, but I guess it was an ass pain and pain in the wallet too because I was a jobless shit head and still dependent to my parents, it is very shameful to say it here in your interview right now because I am already old but not that old and dirty, just an ugly, hehe! But that’s the truth, I am just very honest to myself.
About the press run, I just Xerox it whenever I have money. Sometimes I printed like 5 copies and 10 copies, he! Just shit as that man.

How did you come up with a theme for your zine?

*Since I really love ear bleeding music and I cant live with out that shit and been into lots of different genres since I was young ‘til present, I decided to focused mostly on music and scene for the underground, in my first issue it was focusing only on punk, hardcore and metal, but I changed it to all genre as long as it is “UNDERGROUND”. But since I have some and small knowledge politically, so I put some spice of socio political topics.

Who did you interview in your first issue? How?

*The first interview I did was of course my friends band in the local, hehe! The band HOPSKATCH, A.F.M, LORD CAIPHAS, thru the kick ass and never fade snail mail because as what I have said, I don’t have any knowledge about computer and of cors I don’t know how to fuck the internet.

How did you lay out your fist issue? Has that process changed?

*As I have said in my answer earlier, it was really shitty and crappiest crap on earth, type written, cut and paste and a photo copy shit like that.
Yes it was change until my mother bought me a computer, hehe! And have learned how to fuck this technology and surf the fucking net, and it was fun, and I am another victim with this technology. Hehe! So, in my second issue it was already a computerized but not that good and still crappy, I am just doing it on “Microsoft word” and until now in my 4th issue and even in my upcoming 5th fucking issue, but since I am a jobless shit head and in a lower class writer, and the always problem is “MONEY” the GOD of all people, I decided to put it online because I see that this is the cheapest way to promote the underground since lots of people have an access on it, but still printed version is a fucking god than the webzine, for all my squat punx brothers and sisters and the lower class metal brothers and sisters that don’t have access on it.

How did you round up contributors?

*My first contributor was my friend in my area who also writing a fanzine called IMPALED ZINE, and my friend who’s not in the scene, but he has an unpublished article from his university when he was studying before, but my contributors goes widely when I put my zine online, like my mail was flooding of contributions worldwide like the scene reports, band bios, poetry, and articles and stuff like that.

What zines were your inspirations?

*Of course, the old zines I have read before when I am not writing my shits as what I have mentioned in my previous answer, but now a days, I like the local zine called PUTANG INA MO ZINE, IMPALED ZINE, IN DARK PURITY ZINE, foreign are: METAL INDIA ZINE, PAINFUL REALITY ZINE

Were you published in any other zines before your first issue?
*No, this is my first time, but I am contributing to some other zines, but I am planning to do a newsletter with another name, and I will leave the mighty NO BULLSHIT ZINE as a webzine, but I am not sure yet, maybe I just say this because I am drunk! Hehe, stupid me!

How have your policies towards advertising and reviews changed?

*No, it will never changed, FREE ADS is as always because I love all of you in the underground scene. And on reviews, anything or any kind of genre as long as it is an underground shits, same on interview.

Your goals?

*I guess, all goals of the zine editors are to exist very long like the old fanzine that still exist these days, but to become big like the METAL MANIACS is the fucking “NO” “NO”! I will remain d.i.y as fuck than to become a big shit like that! Hehe!

Drinking alcohol and beers are really dangerous, millions of people died because of those intoxicated beverages that are made by those capitalists with so much chemicals on it, capitalists are anti life, they are making money while they are killing us, so I just don’t understand why people still love drinking and fan of supporting those branded and expensive alcohol and beers that are made by the capitalists, is that because you are “hip” and “IN” if you are drinking those shits? Supporting branded alcohol is like supporting mainstream music, you know!

Well, maybe you are wondering what the fuck I am talking here since I love getting drunk? Yeah, fuckers! I love getting drunk with TUBA AND LAMBANOG, that shit fucking rule, man! To those non Filipinos, TUBA and LAMBANOG are made from the nectar of flowers of coconut trees, fresh and pure and natural, without any preservatives, chemicals and other shits! And it is really healthy to drink and it could get you drunk like your favorite expensive drinks, if you drink Lambanog and Tuba you will end up playing heavy metal even though you are fan of Cristina Aguilera and Britney Spears, hehe!

According to the old coconut farmer people, Tuba and Lambanog can also cure illness like Asthma, fever, anemia and it also makes your bone stronger and even your knees will go stronger, and much better for sex and could make you a hard on better than Viagra, haha! look at the old drunkards who love drinking Lambanog and Tuba, they’re still kicking like a young ass bastard.

PHILIPPINE METAL SCENE REPORT

I am Corix Baluca an ugly lazy and drunk editor of NO BULLSHIT ZINE. I am from the Republic of the fucked up Philippines, a third world country, the most corrupt officials that I could say "the rotten fucking government"

Philippines has lots of islands scattered and has lots of beautiful places. Philippines is quite big and I am not a perfect fucking creature to put on the complete lists and infos of underground metal bands, labels, distros, zines, shops and etc. the lists below are listed according to some of my research, heard and witnessed, and usually my mind works if only I'm drunk. Only few bands have recognized abroad because mostly of them are in the middle class and the fucking Philippine system is a fucked up shit, some are jobless and can't support their metal habit promoting their materials abroad.

There are lots of metal bands here but I didn't include some of them because I have still doubt that those bands has no knowledge about the underground scene and don't even know want is FANZINE and D.I.Y and should be educated first. And some think that this is a trend so they are riding with it.

1. Who are the members of the band? What kind of music do you play? How long had you been together?

*Corix
[Toxemia]: Hello Froi, the current members of the band are: Me on
guitar/back up voxshit, Ron Tai-tax on voxshit/guttural pig, Ian
Arquiza on punishing skins.

Toxemia was formed last July 2003,
but because of we are suffering from line up crisis, only Me and Ron
are the original members since then, we’ve been together for two years
that filled our lives in conditioning and getting drunk and fucking
wasted.

Our music is a combination of
noise/grind/crust/gore/death/punk and just totally irritating like
spitting pleghm, puke and sometimes it sounded like eating shits, our
music is totally wasted.

2. Who writes the lyrics and the music on your songs?

*In
our previous and new demo, I write all the lyrics, Ron is now writing
some shits, and we just collaborate on our musical ideas.

3. What/who influenced you individually and as a band?

*Individually,
I am into death/grind, noise/crust/thrash and gore nowadays, that are
influenced by IMPETIGO, INHUMATE CHEMIKILLER, AGATHOCLES and A.D.A
Ron are into Death metal and grindcore stuff, Ian are into Grindcore, gore and crust, so we have something in common.

As a band we are influenced by a fucking god of gore/metal “IMPETIGO”

4. What are your releases? What do you think are the problems of many underground bands here when it comes to recording?

*We
have released a demo last 2003 called “SEALED WITH BLOOD” just a
limited of 20 copies of cd-r and tapes, and we are doing a new demo
called “WHO IS THE MOST POWERFUL, GOD, SATAN OR MONEY?”

About
the problems when it comes on recording, for me, no. 1 problem is
money! Lots of underground bands here are jobless, in a lower class,
can’t afford in a decent studio, but if you still believed in the
ethics of d.i.y, we can fight back against money, just like what our
band did, our recording actually is fucking dirty as fuck! Because we
still believed in the ethics of the old school way of d.i.y.

5. What the Cavite scene like? If I would compare it to the scene here in Lucena City, as of now, it is very alive, right?

*Yeah! Lucena u.g scene kicks fucking weak ass! Just like also here, Cavite u.g scene kicks weak asses too!

6.
About the last election (Philippines and U.S.A), what do you think of
GMA being re-elected? And what could be the effects of BUSH, being also
re-elected, in the Philippines (knowing that Pres. GMA is a puppet of
American government)?

*Honestly, I don’t care much about the
election and actually it’s been 3 elections past that I didn’t vote.
About GMA being re-elected, it is still the same shit of government we
had, and nothings changed, that’s the reason that I didn’t vote, GMA is
sucking Bush cock, our government will soon become fascist and
anti-life. They are all BUSHit!!!

7. What are your stand when it comes to religion?

*Religion
is another BULLSHIT! A racist, because it divides us instead into one,
a sexist, a homophobic, making profit and fooling people! I don’t
believe in any religion anymore! FUCK THAT SHIT!

8. One the problems of the whole underground scene here was the lack of womyn in the scene. What do you think of that?

*Because,
we don’t educate much on women to the underground scene, and some men
are still a macho egoed shit like that, ‘cuz they think womyn are not
part in the scene, the problem is us, we should educate and influenced
them to our scene that we called “underground”, but I know there are
lots of feminist group out there.

9.
About the "terrorist" here in the Philippines, what should the
government do to stop all of that bullshits like Abu Sayyaf and Others.
Do you think that modernization in our military forces could do the
trick?

*I don’t think
modernization of military forces could do a trick against the
terrorists, look at Bush and his country, USA has a fucking powerful
armed forces but still they are been attacked by the terrorists,
terrorists are like Satan or God, we don’t see and we don’t know them,
they are like a fascists that are hiding in a big corporate
capitalists, we don’t know who’s neck and throat to be cut, I guess,
the government should do is to shut off their fucking mouth, speaking
words without actions, one thing is, change the fucked up system as
what the Abussayaf are shouting for, not kissing American’s ass to get
modern guns and shit to kill innocent people, we should stand to do it
ourselves.

10. Militarization
sucks!!!! Instead of wasting billions of money for that, why not use it
for the betterment of the people? What can you say about that?

*You
are so damn right! man! The government have no money for food! No money
for the homeless! No money for poor! But they have money for guns and
bombs! For what? For war? To kill innocent people? Fuck that, right?!
FOOD NOT BOMBS! MOTHER FUCKER! I remember one of the song from A.D.A,
“FUCK YOUR WAR”!

[A SHORT HAPINESS]

With all those so much problems in life, sometimes I really feel that life really sucks big time! Problem in our society, political problems, seeking jobs until I got sick and tired hunting, listening underground musick, writing an underground zine, going to gigs, getting drunk and getting stoned and all those shits in my day by day of surviving, damn! I almost forgot to fall in love for almost two and a half years, until a woman came into my life that brings the light that I called “LOVE”.

It was November 26th, 2004 that I first met her at the political activities that we attended somewhere in Manila, she is so damn beautiful, we share something in common, share the same kind of fucking noise and irritating music and also she played guitar in a noise band, share same kind of political point of views, same life style, the only thing is that, we have different race but that’s not a fucking problem, we go to underground gigs sometimes on weekend, bang our head off while drinking, we hitch ride to an elite cars and buses and trucks, yeah! We are a hitch hiker, going to the beach and stoned out, smoking joints and laughing with out jokes, man, we are fucking crazy! But that craziness brings me to some kind of special feeling, the feeling that I couldn’t describe when sometimes I am in a silent mode.

I can’t forget her sweetness, I remember last Christmas we were together, swimming at the pool at the top of her building, drinking wine, smoking, watching the cool sunset and watching and laughing how to smash those big building of those fucking corporate capitalist scattered around Ortigas, haha! watching bright stars at night, eat vegan food, sleeping together and talking about personal, life, some political stuff and of corz the underground music we are into.

This is my second time spending Christmas and New year’s eve together with special someone but this is the most special season I have ever had than the past. I showed her my love and respect as a woman, I showed her my care and love that I never gave in my past, for the past two and a half years that I never fall in love, I have experienced once again how to get very excited and thrilled like having an earth quake and a heavy punching in my chest to answer when my mobile phone rings or a beep of a text message from her or if I saw her name when I open my e-mail, damn! Man, sounds really crazy for me that you couldn’t imagine, right? I start to believe in the saying that “One does not look for love, Love finds the person”.

But this happiness will about to end, she’ll be goin’ to leave where she was born and raised, I don’t know if she’s coming back, and I don’t know if I should wait her, but I guess, I should not to, I should start to forget her so that it will not be really painful, ‘cuz I always think of her every time I woke up, before I go to bed, while smoking weed, while drinking alcohol, damn! Maybe I should stop drinking and smoking weed so that I could forgot her easily, and continue my path and hope we will meet again at the crossroads of our journey, now, happiness becomes loneliness again with emotional burden, and I guess I am a hopeless romantic, empty like my bottle of beer I am drinking right now, like my cigar that turns to ashes right now.

I’m gonna missed her so bad, I have already feel the pain, sadness and loneliness, I guess, I should start to erase her in my mind but not in my heart so that I could overcome easily and continue my journey.

Sometimes I feel not to fall in love again. I start to wonder why love isn’t eternal? Why there is love? Why do people fall in love? Why is it that love always turn to hate? Why should we get hurt and had pain in our heart because of love? Why we shed tears because of love? I start to believe that love isn’t good and kind and love is made of evil.

I don’t believe in love anymore! FUCK LOVE!

This is fucking crazy, ‘cuz this is my very first time I wrote some shitty crap like this, maybe you punk and metal as fuck wondering about this, and why I am getting soft this time? I just can’t control myself, even if I am stoned and drunk in front of this fucking monitor right now. I don’t want to be hypocrite hiding what I feel, ‘cuz I know everybody feels like this way too!

*Yes,
I am a huge supporter of the underground scene here, I go everywhere
here in my country, I love to witness new bands in the u.g scene, I
mostly go to the d.i.y gigs.
Who are the bands I’ve seen? Well,
I have already witness Lots of bands here, but if you’re talking
about foreign bands, well, there are only few foreign bands who come
and toured here in my country, I saw DEMISOR from Singapore playing
live here, I also witness Metallica playing live here last 1993 I
guess, I met the god of gore fucking cult metal Mark of IMPETIGO, and
the band IN GROWING has a plan to toured here this coming January 2005
hopefully.
And some bands I would love to see playing live here are
IMPETIGO, VENOM, AGATHOCLES, INHUMATE and all those underground bands
world wide, if only I could travel the world for free, I will love to
see them all and bang my head ‘til my neck breaks!

serious to go out pro, I just really have fun and love being hit by a
skateboard and had a broken bone, he! But sadly, I already stop it
‘cuz it is an expensive sport, I can’t afford it right now,
skateboards here in my country cost too expensive and getting higher,
the skateboarding capitalists are using this sports for their own
fucking profit, so, as a protests, I stop playing and buying those
shit, I will just ask it for free! Haha!.

7. WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE THINGS TO DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME BESIDES THE ZINE AND SKATEBOARDING??
*Man,
I love getting drunk, go to d.i.y gigs, jam with my band, traveling to
different provinces/places here in my country with no money involve,
traveling without money, just a single peso for 1 stick of cigarette,
hehe, ‘cuz I ride through hitch, ha! I am a hitch hiker! And I want
to squat the fucking world. I also support some political activities
like the Food Not Bombs, giving free food to the homeless and deprived,
and watching porn videos.

8. IF YOU DON'T MIND A PERSONAL QUESTION WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON RELIGION? IS RELIGION BIG IN YOUR COUNTRY?
*Religion
is really big in my country, and honestly, I am a Roman Catholic, but I
am tired already, I never go to church anymore, and never believed any
religion anymore, I never trust any religion anymore, Religion is a
racist, because it is divided instead into one, Religion is a sexist,
Religion is a homophobic, Religion causes crime, Religion are making
profit and fooling those innocent people, they said religion can save
you, do you think there is heaven?

food on your plate, they can’t buy you tickets for the metal fest,
you can’t eat, smoke, fuck, drink and drunk, by calling the name of
God or Satan, you can’t even print your zine by hailing God or Satan,
so, I guess, it is really obvious that in my opinion MONEY is the most
powerful in this world today because, you can do whatever you wanna do
if you have that fucking money, money is just a piece of paper but it
could make the world go round! Look at all the religion sects, they are
making profit out of it, if you live in the fucked up and corrupt
country like my country that are experiencing poverty, you can’t even
think about God or Satan anymore, And oh! Here in the Philippines, you
can even buy the justice system here, so think about that.

best thing is that, I met you, found lots of contacts world wide,
people are equal, sharing thoughts, knowledge and stuffs, non profit,

worst thing is that, there are still competition of being metal or
being punx, there are still people who judge you from your age of how
long you existed in the scene, rip off are scattered everywhere.
